The DUFF by Kody Keplinger

The DUFF= Designated ugly fat friend. Sounds appealing no? 17 year old Bianca has never felt like the most attractive girl but she never game it much thought. That is till Wesley decides to point it out one night at a teen nightclub. Wesley is labelled as a "man whore" in school and he seems to have a different girl by his side every day. Bianca hates him. That is until her family is falling apart and one night she kisses Wesley. Both in shock they decide to keep it a secret. But that kiss becomes so much more...

I finished this book in one day. I could not put it down. I instantly fell in LOVE with Bianca. Her attitude is what really made me connect with her. The fact that she wasn't the typical "Barbie" also helped. It was a character that I think everyone could relate to in some way. She wasn't the "cookie cutter" girl that we typically see. I loved the writing style and I am still in shock that a 17 year old wrote the book. All the characters in the book were so realistic. I found myself connecting  the characters in the book to some people I went to high school with. It brought me back to those days. I would give this book a solid 5 out of 5 and would recommend it to anybody over the age of 14.... there are some sexual references, some swearing. Happy reading! :)

lost legends of an imaginary empire

They made a legend of our love,
in songs to rock and rule the ages;
of death and dreams and unsung lullabyes,
of memories to make us hide our eyes -

but we were never what they saw,
we were never love’s redemption,
just broken hearts and broken laws;
the broken ways of our intentions.

Then Time came ’round to give us hope,
the wind of centuries and skies untamed;
to take our lies and give them rope,
renew the faith of all the hearts we’d claimed -

see we were never what we seemed,
we were never just the fools of song,
but more than ever they had dreamed,
we were never lost, and never wrong …
